Not much in the world of Veganism. Went shopping at Rock and Roll Ralph’s because it’s got the bigger Tofu section in my ‘hood. To be honest, I could wander around that grocery store for HOURS. I prefer to go food shopping in the middle of the night because their not that many people there and I get to meet freaks like me. Ralph’s is a bit pricy but I’ll have to work around it. I bought something different for dessert, coco-puffs and Toffutti chocolate ice cream sandwiches (can’t I just say sammiches?) I’m on the lookout for Vegan Mac and cheese. Can anyone help out?

Day 16
Payday! I’m slipping! I kept dreaming of a mouth watering Philly Cheese-steak sub at work. I had Danny bring me some Vegan potato salad and Chocolate soymilk from Wholefoods but it wasn’t the same. Morning Star (I think) makes some feaux philly-cheese-steak strips. But I wonder if the cheese is soy? I must shop there for more than 2 items sometime.

Why was Nicolas Cage born?
A sad day: I suffered through Ghost Rider and I ate a grilled-cheese sandwich. D’oh!

Happy VD!
Happy VD! Today marks the two-year loop for Graig and I. We didn’t do anything special except he took me to California Vegan. I had a wrap and he had miso soup in a bowl the size of his head. The Carrot cake was okay but I wish I had more of an appreciation for Coconuts.

Tater tots and NYU snots
Today was a boring day. I had the Weetabix and a veggie burger for lunch. The only interesting thing that happened was that I found a recipe for Vegan Mash potatoes and I’m salivating until payday so I can hit up the market.
It get slightly better after work.
Having left my wallet at home so all I had in my system were French fries and a Rasberry hot tea with steamed soymilk from Psycho-babble on Vermont for dinner. As I waited for the rest of the gang for our Editors meeting to show, some poor NYU schmuck bought me a drink because I liked the script for his pilot. It’s a pilot about nothing, if you know what I mean. To double D, thanks for the taters.

Meeee look pwetty in coduwoy
Today was my day. I went SHOPPING and I reaped the benefits of this diet. I actually bought two pairs of jeans that fit. And the one that don’t normally look terrible actually fit a lot better. Thank god everything was on sale. Ladies! Hit up the Wasteland on Melrose and Urban Outfiiters. I actually feel freaking GOOD! I had been walking home with a friend of mine but that sort of changed so I have to get exercise elsewhere. I miss playing ultimate Frisbee. I’m looking to join the LA chapter of Food Not Bombs since I enjoy cooking. I’ve been making regular cookies for the peeps at my job but I haven’t tried to bake Vegan since Graig’s Birthday last year. Who wants my baked wares?

Whiners and Diners
I love going to diners. They’re seedy, greasy, yet colorful. There is one in my neck of the woods called, Angel’s. It’s cheap and awesome and run by these cool Mexican women and their old dad, who cooks. Normally i cook breakfast at home but boyfriend kept complaining about the soybacon I made tastes like rubber.
Breakfast
Oatmeal + raisins + brown sugar
Dry wheat toast
I would’ve had hash browns only they cook it next to the pig.
I just realized something…if you want a quick chocolate fix, get a mocha-soy latte from Czarbucks. Deelish.

The hummus Gods.
I arrived at work late becuase I bought vegan potato salad from Wholefoods. I was on the mission to get hummus, but thank god, I live in the Armenian capital of California. The best hummus is right down the street. Ever been to Zankou’s, folk’s? Although they dry the chicken right in front of you (ew) their hummus is FIRST RATE!!
After work I stood in line with Sandy as we were about to buy a bottle of White Zin, I noticed the label warned not drive or operate heavy machinery. Sandy replies, "I wonder if they had my industrial vibrator in mind." I laughed so hard I dropped the bottle in the middle of the store and everyone saw. I felt so bad I bought it anyway plus two more.

Daily Offering et trois
Today I had my first vegan shopping experience at the Rock n Roll Ralph’s on Sunset Blvd. Ben and I had the munchies after talking shop (working on a script.) I spent 33 dollars just on Soymilk, Tofu, Vegan Snacks, and stuff to make Vegan Chili Cheese dogs because I was in the mood. Although the came out DELICIOUS, I have to find a way not to break the bank. Can anyone help me out?
During a break from photography class I was shocked to find Fritos (a vegan staple) in the snack machine. Who the hell still eats that earwax tasting piece of shit? I was cautious as I slipped in my buck but along with a banana, it didn’t taste like swill. Only don’t eat the whole thing. It’s all corn oil, salt, and corn chips and 20 grams of fat.
Breakfast
Iced Chai Latte
Snack
Fritos + Banana
Lunch
Chinese crackers
Miso Soup
Dinner
Vegan Cheese Chili Dogs

Day 4 - My problem with pink berry.
I live in a section of Los Angeles known as Los Feliz. Near my Apt. is LACC, a community college in which is next to an ice cream parlor called Scoops. I don't normally go there because Pinkberry is closer. They just opened one so I went thinking I might love it.
Not so, Johnson, not so.
This is why I think Pink Berry can suck it:
I walk in and the worker sitting on the counter greets me. I ask " May I please have a vanilla fro-yo with car0b?" (No vegan option here except for the carob.)
He tells me "Yeah, uh, we only have two flavors- Green Tea and other.''
"What's the other?" I ask.
"Oh, I don't know. Some people say it tastes kinda citrusy.''
Um. Okay. That sold me.
I tried the "citrusy" flavor in the spirit of being adventurous. Oh, citrus-ridden flavor it had. But mixed with the carob, not so good. I think I dislike Pink Berry is there lack of flavor options. Green Tea and other folks. Come and get it.
A couple of days later, I went with the boyfriend to Scoops because he wanted Gelato and we were in the area. When I walked in to it's cute black and white checkered decor, there it was- Vegan Ice cream.
So I thought V. I. C. + Soymilk = A PARTY IN MY MOUTH.
Truly, it was.
I swear, it was the yummiest thing I have ever tasted. I got a chocolate flavor I. C with vanilla soymilk and it was the best three bucks I've ever spent.

Real food vs Fake food.
I'm still craving meat.
Nooooooo.
I got the chance to eat a Vegan dish that doesn’t taste vegan. My friend Levka's praising thie place called Real Food Daily.
http://www.realfooddaily.com/
It's on La Cienega Blvd.
In case you didn’t know, I can get off on starch. Biscuits, Fries, Yams, you name it- a shortness of breath will follow. I had this thing that looked like Meat Loaf, tasted like Meat Loaf but was actually a Wheat Loaf. The gravy was made out of cashews and it was pretty mouth watering for a faux Salisbury steak. My boyfriend had a club sandwich with Soy bacon and it tasted pretty effin’ good. We finished off the meal with a Vegan cookie for dessert.
Can anyone tell me about good vegan chocolate?

Day 1
My first day was fine. I feel like a dork considering how excited I was. When you have a certain diet, you get stuck in routine. Now I was free to explore what cooking possibilities were out there. I had a little help from this cool vegan restaurant on sunset blvd called California Vegan.
My diet for the day consisted of :
Breakfast
Coffee + soymilk
Weetabix (If you add soymilk it retains it's crunchiness for like 3 seconds)
Lunch
Went to California Vegan
had the Lentil Loaf (hint: tastes better when adding dijon mustard) and took the rest home.
The boyfriend and I went to see Venus at the Sunset 5 and I was pissed for not bringing a bag of grapes to sub for popcorn. Ghetto yes, stupid idea, nyet.
Snack
Apple slices + Soy butter
Dinner
The rest of the loaf
I did it! One day full of not eating preserved animal bi-products. Took the pills, felt the glory.
